Nothing Means Anything.

One of my most favorite lessons in life that took me the longest to learn is existentialism. There is no reason to ever care about anything. The definition of existentialism is “a philosophical theory or approach which emphasizes the existence of the individual person as a free and responsible agent determining their own development through acts of the will.” Once you master the way of thinking like an existentialist all the day to day troubles will fade away. You’ll no longer care about what people think, because in the end, everyone is going to die. This theory gives the quote “live life to the fullest” some actual meaning. The first thing I noticed was that I stopped feeling the need to go along with trends just to fit in. There is nothing wrong with liking fads, but there is something wrong with changing who you are to fit in with them. There is also nothing wrong with wanting people to like you, but there is something wrong with changing who you are to make people like you. What I have discovered to be true is that once you leave behind the meaningless woes of every day life you start realizing what is important. These are family, friends, and you. You are the center of your world. Consider if the Sun was toxic. Earth would be SCREWED. Make yourself a happy sun that brings only vitamins and nutrients into the earth of your body– your brain. No progress will ever be made unless you start with you. Nobody can make you happy, you have to do this part yourself because everyone is different. Things that make me happy are hanging out with my friends, driving in my car and singing to music, and going out to eat to cool, niche places. Overall, the things that make me happy might not be able to make you happy, but that’s not my goal. I’m not trying to make you do the things I do to find happiness, I’m trying to influence the way that you see things to help you change for the better for you. You have to take time, and date yourself for a while. This will not be the only time I talk about how existentialism has changed my life for the better, but considering this is my first blog post I thought I had to start with the most important thing for me. Thanks for reading!
